BlocksBattle is a 1v1 competitive falling-block arena. Stack pieces, clear lines, and flood your opponent with garbage until they top out. Register (top right) to get rated, chat, and enter tournaments — or press PLAY NOW for an instant guest match (a house bot fills in within seconds).
| key | action | key | action |
|---|---|---|---|
| ← → | move | ↓ | soft drop (fast fall) |
| SPACE | hard drop | ↑ / X | rotate clockwise |
| Z | rotate counter-clockwise | C / SHIFT | hold piece |
| M | mute effects | P | pause (practice only) |
🎮 Xbox controllers work everywhere (stick/dpad move · A hard drop · B/X rotate · Y ccw · LB hold). 🎵 the 🎵 MUSIC and ◆ 3D buttons in the HUD remember your choice.
Clearing lines instantly sends garbage to your opponent. Garbage rows rise from the bottom with one hole per attack (the hole column changes between attacks).
| clear | garbage sent | clear | garbage sent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single | 0 | T-Spin Single / Double / Triple | 2 / 4 / 6 |
| Double | 1 | Back-to-Back (quads & T-spins) | +1 |
| Triple | 2 | Combo | +0 to +5 |
| Quad (4 lines) | 4 | Perfect Clear | 10 |
Pieces use SRS rotation with wall kicks, 7-bag randomizer, hold, ghost piece, and guideline T-spin detection (minis included).
Classic arena formula. Everyone starts at 100; the floor is 100.
Beating a stronger player pays more. Ratings are stored as floats and shown rounded. Draws don't change rating. Idle accounts (14+ days without a match) drift 2 points/day back toward 100.
Challenging: you can challenge anyone in the roster — there is no rating band. House bots are labeled BOT and play fully rated games — beating one pays half the usual gain.
| tier | how to get it |
|---|---|
| rookie | rating < 150 |
| fighter | rating 150+ |
| veteran | rating 300+ |
| elite | rating 500+ |
| legend | rating 700+ |
| grandmaster | top 10 on the live ladder |
| challenger ♛ | rank #1 on the live ladder |
Promotion series: crossing a threshold (150/300/500/700) upward starts a best-of-3. The crossing win counts as game 1. Win 2 → you promote past the threshold; lose 2 → you drop back below it. Your rating is frozen at the threshold during the series — the roster shows your live score as ⚔1-0.
Minos are the arena's coin, earned only by playing:
| action | minos |
|---|---|
| win a rated match | +2 |
| beat a higher-rated player (upset) | +1 |
| first win of the day | +5 |
| tournament prizes | uncapped |
Losses pay nothing. Match earnings cap at 100 minos/week (tournament prizes are uncapped). Spend them in the SHOP: block skins, board themes, garbage skins, ghost styles, chat name colors, avatar frames, nickname effects, and animated nameplates. Minos can't be converted to rating, and rating can't buy minos — the ladder stays honest. Bots carry no minos.
The TOURNAMENTS tab lists everything — cups fill with both players and house bots. Every buy-in is paid in rating, and you can only stake what you hold above the 100 floor, so a brand-new account needs a couple of wins before its first cup. Bracket games are unrated — the pool is the stake. GTD events pay the guaranteed pool even with small fields, and buy-ins refund in full if you leave before the start.
One cup starts every hour. Registration opens 2h before each start.
| event | buy-in | schedule |
|---|---|---|
| QUICKFIRE | 5 ★ | most hours of the day (UTC) |
| DYNAMITE | 10 ★ | 08:00, 14:00, 18:00, 22:00 UTC |
| PRIMETIME | 15 ★ | 12:00, 16:00, 21:00 UTC |
| THE DAILY | 25 ★ | 19:00 UTC — one a day |
| WEEKEND SPECIAL | 50 ★ | Saturdays 21:00 UTC (~23:00 CET) |
| SUNDAY HIGH ROLLER | 100 ★ | Sundays 21:00 UTC (~23:00 CET) |
Mino buy-in events (SIT & GO, the 5-minute rush cups, the mino MTTs and the WEEKLY GRAND SLAM) were retired. Minos are a shop currency now, never a tournament one.
The 1V2 tab hosts the asymmetric mode: one boss faces two attackers at once. The boss's garbage floods both attackers; every attacker's garbage floods the boss. Unrated. Empty attacker seats get filled by house bots after a few seconds. Boss battles are public — they appear in the BATTLES tab and spectators see all three boards.
Signed in, the ⚖ RANKED ✓ / ⚔ UNRANKED toggle sits above the roster (next to ⚔ PLAY RANKED). Flip it to UNRANKED and your challenges change no ratings — pure glory. Your invitee sees a chat notice and a green glow so they know it's unranked.
Seasons run monthly. The first rated match of a new season soft-resets everyone halfway toward 100. When a season ends, its top 10 become permanent honor badges on profiles — see them on any profile page and the full history at /seasons. Achievements unlock selectable nameplate titles (pick yours in ✎ PROFILE).
Ranked matches are verified by deterministic replay: each player gets a private seed, clients stream inputs, and the server replays both games to audit the result (KO truth, attack counts, garbage columns). Verdicts: ok, suspicious, or void (no rating change, lobby notified). BlocksTV replays that pass carry a ✓ verified tag.
Why can't I invite someone? They're away (⊘), already in a match, or in a live tournament.
Why is my rating frozen at 150/300/500/700? You're in a promotion series — win 2 of 3.
Where did my rating go? Check the LEDGER tab on your profile — every point is itemized (matches, buy-ins, prizes, refunds, decay).
Are the lobby bots real? They're house bots labeled AI Bot — they chat, take challenges, play tournaments, and usually run it back. Like anyone else they turn one down sometimes; try another name, or press ⚔ PLAY NOW for an instant match.
How do I change my name's color/effects? Earn minos and buy them in the SHOP.
Lost rating without playing? Inactivity decay — 2/day after 14 idle days.
